The meeting featured student representative reports from Riverside High School, Westland High School, and Wilsonville High School, covering updates on fall athletics, performing arts, club events, and freshman orientation activities. Board members and the superintendent discussed the district's tobacco policies, with a focus on potentially supporting a county-wide ban on flavored tobacco products. Additionally, the board addressed the management of consolidated school buildings, student data privacy protections, and board goals centered on transparency, community engagement, and upcoming school visits.
This 3-Year District Action Plan for the West Linn-Wilsonville School District aims to empower staff, engage learners, honor differences, and align systems to improve learning outcomes for every student. The plan is structured around three core priorities: 'Every Student: Belonging & Safety' to build inclusive and secure environments, 'Every Class: Academic Intention & Success' to ensure rigorous and accessible instruction, and 'Every Day: Attendance & Community' to foster consistent student presence and community collaboration. It outlines district commitments, professional development, and data indicators to achieve these goals and create vibrant learning communities.
The board discussed and unanimously approved a new collective bargaining agreement with the OEA for the 2026-2028 school years. Key terms of the agreement include cost of living adjustments for both years, with a potential trigger for increased funding based on state school fund levels, a transition away from the district's PERS pickup model to inclusion in staff salaries, and new contract language concerning payroll deductions as required by Senate Bill 968. Additionally, the board recognized the commitment of the bargaining teams and highlighted upcoming initiatives such as job description audits for classified staff.
