Vernon Village Plan Commission Plan Commission Meeting
The Plan Commission meeting focused on a public hearing regarding a request for a zoning ordinance waiver. The petitioner proposed constructing an accessory building exceeding the maximum permitted size of 1,200 square feet for a lot of that size. The commission discussed the scale of the proposed building in relation to the primary residence, potential lot coverage concerns, and the impact on the surrounding neighborhood, given its visible location near a subdivision entrance. Neighbors expressed opposition due to the building's size and aesthetic concerns, while the petitioner argued it was necessary for storing personal items like a boat and travel trailer out of view. The commission deliberated on potential requirements for landscaping, materials, and design adjustments to mitigate the scale of the structure if the waiver were to be considered.
