Central Coast Regional District Public Hearing
The public hearing focused on the proposed Bella Coola Valley Official Community Plan (Bylaw No. 565), which intends to replace the existing 1998 community plan. Discussions centered on public feedback regarding recreational trail placement near farmland and concerns about incorporating UNDRIP and DRIPA legislation without clear guidance. Significant opposition was raised by Indigenous leadership, who cited a lack of meaningful consultation, inclusivity, and collaboration throughout the development of the plan, stating that the proposed policy does not align with their traditional way of life or title and rights.
